Kids will get to know more about Saguaros through the scientific work that the Garden’s research department does to preserve this iconic cactus. Garden educators will lead youth through the cultural significance of the saguaro to the local O’othom people. Each participant will have an opportunity to hear a story, create an art project inspired by the saguaro and play a game.
All about the desert tortoise
Our education team will happily travel to you to conduct a hands-on learning presentation which includes a brief story about the Sonoran desert tortoise and a live animal encounter starring our tortoise who will create an original art piece for you. Youth will also learn about the special adaptations of the desert tortoise and their role in the ecosystem.
This program explores the wonderful world of butterfly life cycles and migrations through hands-on observations and projects. Learn about butterfly way stations and become familiar with the type of plants butterflies need to survive through the work of the Garden’s Great Milkweed Grow Out program.
Currently the Garden’s guided and self-guided program is on hiatus for this season. The Garden is committed to offering quality education programs for schools and teachers, please stay tuned for new ways to bring the garden into your classroom.
